No one should go through life alone.
We hope every member of RiverOaks feels known, accepted and loved. We want you to feel like you would be missed if you were gone.
To help our members develop that sense of connectedness, we have several community groups meeting at various times during the week for spiritual and social refreshment. Some groups focus on spiritual discussions, others feel more like parties. We encourage you to try any or all of them; find one works best for you. Here is a list:
81st and Yale
Hosted by Todd and Christine Talbot, 81st & Yale Community Group meets at 7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month. We fellowship and enjoy food & drink at each meeting, have a casual discussion about recent sermons, and are involved in various mercy ministries. We also periodically have special family oriented events. All ages welcome. Email the church office for more information at Info@RiverOaksTulsa.com.
Lead by Bill and Lisa Boyd, Borders is a fun group of adults ranging in ages from early 20’s through 50’s, all with children from pre-teen to young adults. We meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month to eat a meal together and reflect on the sermon from the past week.; during those months with a 5th Wednesday, Borders treats its members with special, fun events. We meet at the home of Jerry and Ruth Faltisko. For more information, contact Bill or Lisa Boyd at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.
We exist to provide an environment of reflection, rest and refreshment in the middle of our hectic week and lives. We REFLECT on the sermon each week and how we apply it to our lives. We REST in Christ and what he has done for us. We gain REFRESHMENT from fellowship with each other. We are Borders because we are all in between, “on the border”, of this life we are living and the one we long for someday in heaven.
Led by Tony and Becky DiPiero and Ben and Rachel Bausili, the Broken Arrow Community Group meets the 2nd Wednesday and the last Friday for dinner, fellowship and sermon discussion. All are welcome! Childcare is provided with activities for the kids on Tuesday; on Friday we use the childcare at the church during the Community Group Night Out. If you would like to visit, please contact Rachel at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Brookside Community Group meets on the 2nd Thursday and the last Friday of each month from 7:00-8:30 near 61st and Yale for a meal, prayer, and discussion of the current sermon series. They welcome singles and married couples of all ages; however, childcare is not provided. Bring a drink or an appetizer to share with the group. For more information contact Shane Hatfield at 918-906-2325 or shatfield@riveroakstulsa.
The Downtown 20's are a community group composed mostly of single and married 20-somethings at RiverOaks, though everyone is welcome. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Our meetings are typically hosted at the Herouxs or Graves residences. Attendees are asked to bring a snack, dessert, or drink to share. We typically have scripture-based discussions relevant to modern day Christians. Additionally, the group attempts to have at least one community group outing per month (e.g., bowling, movies, game night). We do not currently offer childcare. For more information, please contact Jordan Heroux (email@example.com) or Sam Graves (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Lead by Greg Marino, the Jeremiah 24 Community Group meets twice a month on Sunday nights for fellowship, prayer and discussion of the sermon. The group is composed mostly of couples and singles with grown children, but everyone is welcome! Recently, we have been meeting at Glen & Kay Hall's house for the past few months. Call 918-710-1203 if you need more information.
The Midtown Community Group focuses on young families, but everyone is welcome! We meet twice per month: the second Thursday and the last Friday. Our meeting on the second Thursday is an opportunity for fellowship, and kids are welcome at this low key meeting; the meeting on the last Friday of the month takes advantage of the church's childcare; on that night we spend time together in focused prayer for our church, our families, our jobs, our city, etc. Potluck meals are shared at both meetings.
Led by EZ and Jodi Mireles and Jeremy and Maria DeLay, the South Tulsa CG meets every first and third Wednesday of the month at the Mireles' house. We will eat and drink together, as well as have a short sermon discussion and prayer, with the goal of building real and lasting relationships between young couples in our church. For more information please contact Jeremy at 336-471-3156 or at email@example.com. Childcare will not be provided.
The Southies meets on the 2nd Monday and the last Friday of every month! On the 2nd Monday, we meet at 6:30pm for a potluck meal and focus on building relationships to help us grow together as a community. After the meal we have sermon discussion and a time of prayer for each other. Everyone, including children, is welcome.
On the last Friday of the month we take advantage of the opportunity the Community Group Childcare night provides to gather together at 6:30pm and have a more in depth discussion and fellowship.
Youth Group Parents
The Youth Group Parents Community Group is for anyone whose child is in the Jr. High or High School Youth Group. We meet during Youth group (around 6:30) the first and third Sundays of each month at Ricky and Bianca Jones' house, 10616 E100th Street, Tulsa. This fall they will discuss The Christian Life by Sinclair Ferguson.
Again, welcome to RiverOaks! We hope you will find a group to plug into, because our community groups are where life happens.
