Sermon Topics for 2014

The RiverOaks staff recently got together and mapped out the year 2014. I thought you might like to know what we will be teaching from the pulpit in the coming year.

We will begin the new year with a series on work and stewardship beginning on January 12. The Bible clearly teaches that God created us to work. Yet sin has dramatically affected us and our callings. We will address work, career, advancement, money, etc. etc. If you would like to do a little study on your own, I recommend Dorothy Sayers' essay: Why Work, and Tim Keller's book Every Good Endeavor

This Spring we will return to the book of Romans and conclude our study there. Picking up on Paul's exaltation in Chapter 11, I have titled this series "Unsearchable Wisdom." We will study chapters 9 - 15 which focus on the practical applications of our wonderful salvation.

In July and August we will repeat the popular "By Request" series. Through the City I will open the floor to you and allow you to pick the sermon topics for a few weeks. Like last year, we will give you the opportunity to ask questions after the sermons and I will do my best to answer them.

Then beginning in August, we will study the book of Matthew beginning in Chapter 12 and going through at least Chapter 21. We will focus on Christ's parables on the Kingdom of God and on Christ as the King.

I look forward to spending this next year of ministry with you. I hope you are as excited as I am.

Love it! Really excited to hear all of these sermons, especially the work one coming up. Always good to hear what God is doing in our careers!
